Studio Log #001
Today in the studio I want to get some practice in and work on some new ideas for potential larger pieces. I have been working on my first original piece and I’ve been trying to take my time and try to trust and enjoy the creation process.
Below are a few shots of the progress of the first draft:
This collection I’m working on is definitely influenced by the cyberpunk genre. I’ve been playing cyberpunk 2077 consistently for the past few years and I love the art style. I like the vibrant colors and lights. I love the futuristic look. But I also like the dark elements and subject matter that it displays despite using all those fun kid like colors.
Sketchbook Progress Loading……
After a couple of hours I am very proud of myself but I got down a sketch and rough color reference in this next image. It doesn’t look like much but I’m telling you when I prototype it and use a ruler and stencils to make perfect tiny shapes you will see what I am trying to get at.
I got inspiration from the Corpo life path art that you see in the game. Very dark with a lot of bright neon red that gives off a menacing glow. The next step is going to be to make the prototype clean it up and get some decent color on it.
Calling it quits for the day. Time to recharge and recover for my work week to start but I feel like I started my week off with some creative momentum. Hopefully that brings me into my painting practice this week with an itch to get even more done.
